Late Fall Infield Clinics with Jason Aquilante / Ages 7-11 and Ages 12-18

Most players at the amateur level do not spend enough time working on defense. Becoming a better infielder requires proper techniques, lots of targeted drills and reps, and the knowledge and tools to improve.  The Infield program will be offered throughout the year, and parents can register their kids for dates that work best for their schedules.  The agenda will vary from week to week and throughout the course of the program we will include drills covering the following:

  • The drills that must be done at every practice, and before every game
  • Improving one's footwork: Including the approach to the ball as well as the transition to throw
  • Improving throwing mechanics: Infielders need to have a short arm action and be comfortable throwing from ALL arm angles
  • Proper glove positioning on fielding the routine plays, backhands, forehands and run-through plays.
  • Double Play Feeds and Turns
  • Run-Through plays: Players will work on all types of run-throughs and must be comfortable throwing on the run and across/against their body
  • Understanding HOW to play their position: Players need to understand baseball situations (Cuts/Relays, Rundowns, etc.)

Coach Jason Aquilante, voted the ACC’s best defensive second baseman while at Wake Forest University, will be leading the clinic again this year.  Coach Aquilante has spent almost 20 years working with infielders at the youth, collegiate and professional levels.
